Seven days in Sicily end in the baroque south-east. After Palermo, Etna and Taormina, Noto and Ortigia, Agrigento and two days in the west, the seventh day is a slower one in Modica and Ragusa Ibla, two hill towns rebuilt in the baroque style, with time for their churches, steps and lanes.

Between the bases you usually travel by road: neighbouring bases are typically 30 minutes to about two hours apart, and the longest runs, such as Trapani to Noto or Siracusa, take about five hours. A rental car is usually the easiest way to join several bases in one trip, and the builder plans these legs by road.
