The paths cover a wide area and shows run through the day, so most people treat the zoo as a full outing.
Mornings are usually cooler and many animals are more active early; weekdays outside school holidays are typically quieter.
A free tram loops the park and saves walking between far-apart zones; giant pandas live next door at River Wonders.
Begin near the entrance with the orangutans, which climb freely above the paths. Walk through the Fragile Forest, where lemurs, sloths and butterflies share an enclosed habitat. Further round, the African savanna zone, the primate areas and the reptile garden are worth slow stops. Check the day's schedule for presentations and feeding sessions, and use the tram if your feet need a rest.

The zoo is in leafy Mandai in the north; take the MRT and then a dedicated park shuttle bus, or a taxi from the centre.
Tickets are sold through the official Mandai ticket shop, and each one includes free access to the Mandai Gallery, as of Oct 2026. Rides on the free tram that loops the park need no extra ticket. The Book box on this page shows partner tickets and current prices.
On a Saturday the zoo is usually open 8:30 AM–6:00 PM, with last entry 5:00 PM, as of Oct 2026. Arriving well before last entry leaves time for the long walking loop. Hours are the same every day of the week, so a weekday visit follows the same pattern.
Many visitors allow about 3–5 h, as of Oct 2026. Keeper talks, feeding sessions and the distances between zones fill the day quickly. The shaded paths invite slow stops, and the free tram helps when feet get tired between the far ends of the park.
Shaded paths wind past open, natural-looking habitats, and a free tram loops the park for longer distances, as of Oct 2026. Children often head for the KidzWorld water play area, and giant pandas live at River Wonders next door. Some exhibits close for works from time to time.
The zoo is in the Mandai area in the north of the island. Most visitors take the MRT and then a dedicated park bus, or a taxi; the map on this page shows the nearest station, as of Oct 2026.
