Most of the visit goes on security and lift queues, which usually take longer than the time at the top.
Soon after opening is usually calmer at the lifts, and spring or autumn weekdays tend to be quieter than summer.
Travel light: there is no cloakroom or left-luggage office, and security turns back oversized bags.
Start on the esplanade beneath the four legs, where you see the scale of the ironwork. The first floor has a glass floor section and displays on how the tower was built. The second floor gives the classic view over the Seine, Trocadéro and the domes of the city. From there a separate lift climbs to the summit, a small enclosed and open deck high above Paris, with a restored version of Eiffel's own office.
At the end of the Champ de Mars, a short walk over the Pont d'Iéna from Trocadéro; metro, RER and river boats stop nearby.
Tickets are priced by how high you go: a lift ride to the second floor, or one that carries on to the summit, as of Oct 2026. Stair tickets reach the lower two levels, and entry is timed. The Book box on this page shows partner tickets and current prices.
The tower opens every day, but its closing time shifts through the year, with later evenings in high summer. The hours box shows this month's times, as of Oct 2026. The last lift up leaves a little before closing, so arrive with time to spare.
Yes. Three public levels are open, reached by lift, and the lower two also by stairs; on a clear day the view stretches well past the edge of Paris. The summit can shut at short notice for wind, fog or maintenance, as of Oct 2026.
Many visitors allow about 90–150 min. Security, lift queues and a pause on each level add up, more so if you ride to the top, since the summit has a separate lift from the second floor with its own queue. Stairs to the lower levels take extra effort.
