Historic villa and gardens on Biscayne Bay
USD 20
Vizcaya sells tickets on its own site and at the gate, and booking ahead is usually advised at busy times of year.
Is it free? No, entry is by ticket. Some visitors may qualify for free or reduced entry; Vizcaya's site lists who.
As of Oct 2026
Mornings are usually cooler and calmer in the gardens, and weekdays tend to be quieter than weekends.
A Metrorail stop sits just across the road, so Vizcaya links easily with Brickell or Coconut Grove without a car.
Start inside the main house with the central courtyard, then move through the furnished reception rooms, the music room and the dining hall. Step onto the east terrace to see the carved stone barge breaking the waves in the bay. Out in the formal gardens, follow the fountains and hedges to the mound and the grotto, with a small maze and shaded paths along the way.
The estate is on South Miami Avenue between Brickell and Coconut Grove; a Metrorail stop is a short walk across the road.
Step-free accessThe ground floor of the main house is mostly reachable by wheelchair, using a ramp and lift on the south side (two loggias excluded); the upper floor cannot be reached by wheelchair. The central formal gardens can be reached but paths are mostly dirt and gravel; several garden areas have limited or no access. Wheelchairs can be borrowed at admissions.
A ticket covers the main house and the formal gardens, with a lower rate for older children, as of Oct 2026. Some rooms or garden areas may close during restoration work, so check the estate's site first. The Book box on this page shows partner tickets and current prices.
Each week the estate stays shut on Tuesday. Other days usually run 9:30 AM–4:30 PM, as of Oct 2026. Because the gardens take most of the time, arriving early leaves room to see the rooms of the house first and then walk the terraces before the afternoon heat.
Young children and members enter free, and so do veterans, active military and visitors with a disability along with one caregiver, as of Oct 2026. Other visitors need a ticket, with a lower rate for older children. The museum's site explains what proof each free group needs.
The estate sits on Biscayne Bay between Brickell and Coconut Grove, with a rail stop just across the road, and taxis and ride-hail cars drop off at the gate. Parking is on site. The map on this page shows the address and the nearest station, as of Oct 2026.
