Check the bridge's published lift schedule before going; the Tower of London right beside it makes an easy pairing.
Inside the north tower, short displays tell how the bridge was designed and built in the late Victorian era. A lift takes you up to the high-level walkways, where the glass floor gives a dizzying view straight down to the river. Windows frame views towards the City and Canary Wharf. After coming down, follow the blue line to the Victorian engine rooms, with the original steam engines that once raised the bascules.
At the eastern edge of the City, a few minutes' walk along the river path from the Tower of London.
One ticket covers the towers, the high-level walkways and the engine rooms, sold by Tower Bridge on its own website and at its ticket office, as of Oct 2026. The Book box on this page shows partner tickets and current prices.
The exhibition usually opens every day. On a Wednesday it is open 9:30 AM–6:00 PM, with last entry 5:00 PM, as of Oct 2026. Getting there well ahead of last entry leaves time for both the walkways and the engine rooms, and the official site lists any changes.
Many visitors allow about 60–90 min. That covers the displays in the north tower, the lift up, a pause on the glass floor and the walk down to the Victorian engine rooms. Watching the bascules lift or strolling the riverside afterwards adds a little more.
Yes, a visit takes you up into the towers and across the high-level walkways, where a glass floor looks straight down onto the road and river. Back at ground level, the Victorian engine rooms show how steam once lifted the bridge. The bascules still rise for tall ships.
