ATMs run by banks are usually cheaper than stand-alone machines, though many banks also charge foreign cards a fee. If asked, choose to be charged in British Pound. Your own bank may also charge a foreign-use fee. Check with your bank before you go.
Tipping is not mandatory. In restaurants, around 10-15% is usual if a service charge is not already added to the bill; check the bill first. Tips are usually left on the card payment or, less often, in cash.

Dec · Jan · Feb
Winter in London is quiet and cool, often wet, with short days - a good time for indoor sights like the free national museums. It includes the Christmas and New Year period, when many attractions add festive lights and markets, and some run altered opening hours.
Mar · Apr · May
Spring usually brings milder days and blossom in the Royal Parks. Crowds and prices are typically lower than summer, though showers are common, so a light waterproof is worth packing.
Jun · Jul · Aug
Summer is usually London's busiest and warmest season, with the longest daylight hours. Parks fill with outdoor events and evening picnics; popular sights get busy, so an early start helps.
Sep · Oct · Nov
Autumn usually brings cooler, changeable weather and turning leaves in the parks. Crowds tend to thin out after the summer peak, making it a comfortable time for museums and walking tours.

Alexandra Palace's ticketed Fireworks & Drone Festival runs over 2 evenings, gates opening at 16:00; the organiser describes the Sunday show as offering more space to enjoy the event, implying Saturday is the busier of the two nights.
A free procession through the City from Mansion House at 11am, with thousands of spectators lining the streets; about 7,000 participants, 70 floats and 20 military and civilian bands take part, per the City of London's and the organiser's own pages. The route closes to traffic for the morning.
