How Troovz stays freeQuick answers to common questions.
Four days cover the Golden Circle, the south coast, the glacier lagoon at Jökulsárlón with Diamond Beach and Skaftafell, and a day in Reykjavík.
A visit usually takes 45 to 90 minutes, and Diamond Beach is across the road. As of 4 Nov 2026.
Yes, but it is a long drive along the south coast. The four-day plan visits the glacier lagoon on the third day and keeps Reykjavík for the fourth, so some visitors sleep near Vík or Skaftafell after the third day and drive back to the capital the next morning, with daylight for any stop the south coast day left out.
First time? We suggest for the sights.
Reykjavík is the capital and the easiest first base: museums, harbour walks, shops and the widest choice of places to eat sit within a short walk of each other.

The south coast runs from the farmland around Hella and Hvolsvöllur past Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss to the black beaches of Vík.

This base covers the lowlands east of Reykjavík around Selfoss, Hveragerði and Laugarvatn, where Þingvellir, the Geysir geothermal field and Gullfoss lie within a short drive of each other.

The southeast is the stretch from Kirkjubæjarklaustur through Skaftafell to Höfn, where the Vatnajökull ice cap reaches almost to the sea.
