Soon after opening the light is soft and the terraces quieter; late afternoon is popular for photos of the prang.
From Wat Pho, the little cross-river ferry is the quickest way over; up close, look for flowers made from broken china.
The central prang stands on a stepped base, with smaller towers at its corners. Look closely at the flowers and figures pieced together from fragments of china, and at the demons and monkeys that seem to hold the tower up. Climb the lower terraces where they are open for a view across the water. Then step into the ordination hall, with its Buddha image and the giant guardian figures at the gate.
The temple is on the Thonburi bank, facing Wat Pho; a short cross-river ferry from the pier near Wat Pho is the usual way over.
Entry is by ticket, bought on site at the temple, as of Oct 2026. There is usually no need to reserve. For a river trip or tour that stops here, the Book box on this page has partner options and current prices.
The grounds are typically open 8:00 AM–6:00 PM each day, as of Oct 2026. Look at the temple's own notice close to your visit, since details can change. Early in the day the terraces are calmer, while late afternoon brings many visitors who stay for photos of the prang.
The temple sits on the Thonburi bank, facing Wat Pho across the Chao Phraya. A small cross-river ferry links the two sides in a few minutes, river boats call nearby, and taxis reach it by road. The map on this page marks the temple and its landing.
The tall central prang is the main sight, covered in fragments of Chinese porcelain and coloured ceramic that form flowers when seen up close, with demons and monkeys that seem to hold it up. The ordination hall holds a revered Buddha image, with guardian figures at its gate.
